Mark Sandler
Founder and Principal

Mark Sandler, the principal of Novel Solutions, has more than thirty years experience in the research library, research university, and scholarly publishing spaces.  Throughout his career, Mark has proven to be a creative problem solver and change agent who has forged an extensive network of relationships with leaders in academia, library publishing and digitization, commercial and society publishing, and with some of the newer players in scholarly publishing such as Google (library digitization partnership), Amazon (print-on-demand), and other entrepreneurial start-ups.  Mark is widely recognized as a business savvy leader with creative approaches to business strategy, cost models, marketing, library/end-user sales, and campus outreach.  In 2017, he was the recipient of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award for “outstanding accomplishments of an academic librarian who has worked in the areas of library automation or library management and has made contributions (including risk taking) toward the improvement of library services or to library development or research.”
